Mudgee Markets

Mudgee marketsMudgee is really starting to become a destination for its weekend markets - there are the Church Markets on the first Saturday of each month, held right in the centre of town around the Anglican church (hence the name).

On the second Saturday of each month, picturesque Lawson Park, with its meandering paths along the Cudgeong River is the place to be to pick up a bargain.

And the following week, the Farmers Markets tempt all the senses with their array of produce ranging from farm-fresh fruit and veg to cupcakes, organic pork, wine, home-made jams, preserves and tapenades, fresh bread and more.  And to make the experience even more authentic, you can also participate in the regularly held “Farm Walks” - visit the producers, see how it’s grown or made, sample the wares and don’t forget to take some home with you for later on!

The fourth Saturday of each month sees the historic Mudgee Railway station as the setting for yet more markets - browse for a bargain, or visit Mandurah Studio in the station building for more locally made art, craft, jewellery and more.

September is Wine Celebration Time

Win tickets to Go Grazing

September wine celebration in the Mudgee Region always means a huge variety of events, entertainment, special wine tastings, performances, art exhibitions and much much more …

There is truly something for everyone, so even if you are not a wine afficionado, don’t discount the Mudgee Region for a visit during springtime, we promise you that you will find something to enjoy, participate in and take home with you.

THE culinary event of the wine celebration calendar would have to be “Go Grazing”, a food & wine matching evening where Mudgee’s finest vineyards & cellar doors go head to head to perfect the marrying of nose & palate.

Each cellar door will exhibit two wines - their favourite white wine followed by their favourite red wine – and each wine will be matched by a delicious morsel of finger food, created by Mudgee’s celebrated chefs – a match made in heaven!

“Go Grazing” will be held on Saturday, 26 September 2009, starting at 6.30pm; bookings are absolutely essential and can be made at the Mudgee Region Visitor Centre - phone (02) 6372 7245 or email info@visitmudgeeregion.com.au

You can also win a weekend getaway to this event - enter at www.visitmudgeeregion.com.au

The ‘official’ opening of wine celebration is traditionally the wine show public tasting evening, where you can be the judge of what’s Mudgee’s best red or white.

This year’s event will again be held at AREC (the Australian Rural Education Centre), and will take place on Saturday, 12 September.
